swimming with some beautiful sharks
today i wrote a poem i like, 'riff' by kevin gillam, on my door in permanent ink because i felt like it, & i'm listening to old CDs.
it's been a weird couple of weeks. i've been to a few awesome readings lately. my gig at 'the up front club' was tops, even if the crowd wasn't big. went to a reading at riverbend and was introduced to the poetry of graham nunn, julie beveridge (drool), robert morris and ynes someone-whose-name-i-can't-remember-but-who-was-great. poor ross had to put up with me drinking wine and complaining about falling in love with poets. went to speedpoets for the first time sunday. awesome venue, 'the alibi room', so very bohemian :P. had a wonderful time, and graham liked my stuff. was kind enough to offer me a gig in april. a gig at which i feature! and get paid! w00t! it's all rolling. i'm in a happy space writing-wise; been writing a lot lately. school is another matter.
as i was saying though, it's been a weird couple of weeks. up and down emotions for no reason, and plenty of entertaining myself in strange ways at school. formal soon. ach. i'm dyeing my hair purple. i'm being driven slowly mad, but that's another matter entirely. have to become more courageous and overcome that one soon. maybe tomorrow, maybe not.
there's a gig this friday for international women's day. might check that out.
we don't stand still we run through honey we
harbour slow truth we drink in many we drown
in too few we finger the moon we dissolve
