heath ledger, huckabees and hair-pulling

On Tuesday, Mum and I had a Heath Ledger double-feature day: Casanova and Brothers Grimm. Casanova's a heap of fun, with a hot-as feminist heroine, and Brothers Grimm is another work of genius from dear ol' Terry Gilliam. I've loved everything he's ever touched. Smashing effects in this one, very cool.

I've been dreaming about forests, magical or otherwise, about once a month or fortnight for nearly a year now. They're always perfectly green. Often there's my creek; sometimes I wade through it. Sometimes there's amusing chaos: ala Alice in Wonderland, sometimes it's just me wandering. Usually, there's good feelings. What does this mean, I wonder?

I rented I Heart Huckabees the other day. It's an 'existential comedy' and it's really funny and oddball, but also challenging. Makes you thing about the nature of your own existence, and the way the world's going these days. Best of all are the special features. The informercials are just classic, as well as informative (mmm quantum physics and watermelons).

Dad's getting worse and worse on the chemo. We're just about pulling our hair trying to figure out what to do with him. There's a blanket of depression threatening to shadow this house. Maybe we're cursed. We don't know what to do.

I am drinking lemon & ginger tea and putting together a manuscript: a collection of poems that I may or may not enter into the Thomas Shapcott comp., depending on whether I have $20 to spare or not. It's cheaper to send it to publishers, right? I also need to get some zine submissions together these holidays - I'll have no time for it next term.

My hands smell like potatoes. I'm hungry.

Albagator and love,
Fizzle
