Happiness and Beauty

Überrambly Ramble No. 1

I think that to find happiness, you need to find beauty in everything. Life is the pursuit of happiness and therefore of beauty. I don’t mean only looking at beautiful sights etcetera, but actually changing your whole perception of the world, and seeing it more the way it is. Not seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses, but through contact lenses. I think that seeing the world for what it really is is seeing the beauty in everything. “Truth is beauty, and beauty truth”, right? It’s seeing something that warms your heart in everything. [25th April – happiness is beauty is truth is beauty, but is happiness truth?]

Depression is like seeing the world through sunglasses that distort and darken the world, and they seem to be superglued to your face. I know from experience that some perky fool called Fizz telling you to perceive the world differently makes you feel more inclined to thump me than try and take my advice [advice is made to be given away, not used!]. And I think it may be impossible to change that perception just by saying so. It’s more likely a process, or something or someone triggers it, like a hand reaching over and beginning to pry the sunglasses from your face, so you can peer over the top. For me, I think it was a change of environment that made things seem different. Being forced out of my comfort zone made me stop being so absorbed in my problems and look around me. I think that was the turning point. Funnily enough, that was around the time I actually did get real physical contact lenses.

Enough sounding like a self-help book or that Attitudes Dude from Donnie Darko...ugh... Ciao my beautiful non-existant readers.
